Qi Jin commanded the Zhejiang foot at the Hun River in 1621 — men trained in the tradition of Qi Jiguang's anti-pirate companies. Surrounded after the Ming cavalry broke, the Zhejiang square held its ground and fought to the last man. This figure captures him mid-command, sabre raised, in lamellar and a plumed helm.
